AML Atlas, Facts & Treatment

Acute megakaryocytic leukemia (M7)

"...more patients on the [IDAMYCIN] arm are disease-free and surviving than on the [duanorubin] arm. In summary, these three randomized clinical trials demonstrate the equivalency, if not the superiority*, of [IDAMYCIN] to [duanorubin] when combined with [cytarabine] in remission induction."[12]

*In two of three US studies.

Translocation t(3;3)(q21;q26) seen in M7, affecting the EVI1 gene located at 3q26. This translocation and other changes affecting 3q26 are often associated with platelet and/or megakaryocytic changes. Arrows point to breakpoints in both chromosomes 3.
