Camptosar Injection is indicated for the treatment of patients with metastatic carcinoma of the colon or rectum whose disease has recurred or progressed following 5-FU-based therapy.

Starting Dose in Compromised Patients

Combined history of prior pelvic/abdominal irradiation and modestly elevated baseline serum total bilirubin levels (1.0-2.0 mg/dL): Consider starting at 100 mg/m²
Baseline serum total bilirubin levels > 2 mg/dL: No recommendation available at this time.

Once-Every-3-Week Dosage Schedule

Age 70: Start at 300 mg/m²
Performance Status 2: Start at 300 mg/m²
Prior pelvic/abdominal irradiation: Start at 300 mg/m²

Recommended Dose Modifications for the Weekly and Once-Every-3-Week Schedules^a

A new course of therapy should not begin until the granulocyte count has recovered to 1500/mm³, and the platelet count has recovered to 100,000/mm³, and treatment-related diarrhea is fully resolved. Treatment should be delayed 1 to 2 weeks to allow for recovery from treatment-related toxicities. If the patient has not recovered after a 2-week delay, consideration should be given to discontinuing Camptosar.
