Routine Screening for Endometrial Cancer
Unnecessary for Tamoxifen Users
There is good news for women who are
taking tamoxifen to prevent breast cancer: routine screening for
endometrial cancer, a known risk associated with the drug, is
not necessary. An eight-year study conducted at Memorial Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Center of 111 breast cancer patients who were screened with an
endometrial biopsy at the beginning of their tamoxifen treatment found that
there was no benefit to routine screening. The study was published in the
