How is your Dad doing? I have been praying for ALL OF US!!! My dad is home
and seems to be doing pretty good, weak, but improving. Today he looked a
little peaked though. Tomorrow he goes for blood work.... will keep the old
fingers crossed!
I am kinda worried about him. Him and my mom both seem to think that things
are just ok now. If he is in remission, then I guess it is for the moment.
But it seems like neither of them want to look at the BIG picture. I guess
maybe it is too scary.
I finally got the copies of his hospital records and such and now know what
he was given for Chemo. I have read so many that post knowing what
chemicals were used & felt like a mushroom!!! He had been given Topotecan
and Eryc. It said that his bone marrow biopsy showed acute leukemia with
about 30% blasts and the hypoplastic marrow consistent with myelodysplasia
in transformation. Of course I know nothing about this treatment.
Today I stopped by just for a second to return the original records that
have to go back, and had 3/4 of the kids with me. They stayed in the van,
Papa Al came out to say hi. My 12 yr old smiled at him but wouldn't speak,
I had told him that Papa was ill and he knew he was losing his hair etc.
But he didn't have his teeth in either, when he finally spoke that was what
he asked him, "do you have your teeth in?" The whole thing was very
disheartening. I know that nothing I could have said could have prepared
him, but I feel horrible. It hurt his feelings that Steven was at such a
loss. I don't know what to do at his point, I pointed out to my mom that
steven is still a kid. Is there anything else that I could have done or
could do yet?????
Better go and get all these kids to bed!!
