My mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer two
years ago. She had a masectomy, then radiation. She was then put on
tomoxofin. I have several problems I need to talk to someone about.
My mom does not discuss anything about her doctors visits nor does she share
with the doctor any information about what is going on with her. She does
not want us to talk to her doctors. I respect her wishes but am really
worried. First, she is sick to her stomache almost everyday. She was
given lorazapam to "calm her nerves" and help with the stomach upset. This
was prescribed by a GP not a pychiatrist. She has been on lorazapam for
the two years and tomoxofin. She has been very forgetful and is constantly
repeating herself. My mom was always very active including mowing the lawn
up until her diagnosis and following surgery. She could walk for miles and
could manage the household. Now she gets confused about money,
conversations and also gets confused in stores as to where the exit is
etc...
I love my mom. I don't know what to do.
I don't know if this is a side effect (the nausea and forgetfullness) of her
medications. I need to know if the tomoxifin is causing her stomach
upset. I don't know anything about it and I am truly frustrated. I
consider my mom a breast cancer survivor but she still considers herself as
having breast cancer. I am not judging her... I only want to understand
all this. Can someone help me please??
