Lillian,
Mostly I think we are doing ok. Its so hard to tell with this thing. Ken is up
one day and down the next. His pain in overwhelming sometimes even with a patch
and pills. On good days he's willing to go places and do things as long as it
is quiet, very little walking etc. The hard part is we've danced line and
country together all of our lives and I miss it horribly. This is my selfish
side talking, I do not let him know I want or miss this because he would feel
bad. Recently one of our youngest (5 yrs) grandchildren told him he wants the
old grandpa to come back. Hurt my husbands feelings pretty bad and Vann has not
made as large a fuss over him as he use to. However, next Friday the school is
having a VIP day and Vann invited Ken to go as his VIP. Made my husband feel
really good - so there are ups and downs. He is going to physical therapy
trying to regain strength - it is so slow in returning. Doctor has him on
Oxyidan (steroid like athletes use) and he just called me and asked if its
possible these steroids are making him so tired. I honestly do not know.
Unfortunately there is no further treatment for his type of cancer its just wait
and watch. Still no word from Garden State Cancer Center. I called yesterday
but Dr. Machado is gone until the 10th. I'll probably call her then to get an
update.
Love
Peggy
