One. Two. Three. Angela East couldn't believe it. All three of her
family's doctors possibly gone by the end of the year because of a contract
dispute with Aetna. Her insurer.
"I've had a relationship with these
doctors for 15 or 20 years. I don't want to leave them," says East, who lives
near Stamford, Conn. But she might have to switch her insurer, doctors or both.
Steven Lee and his wife, Sung Hee Kim, face a similar problem in
Bethesda, Md. The doctor who delivered both of their children is dropping their
insurer, Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The change affects only one of the family's
doctors. But Lee is worried that the rest could follow. "Then we would have to
rethink whether we continue to see these doctors or see someone else who will
accept the insurance," he says.
