thanks Bridget for the email, I guess I was feeling a little lonely!! It's
interesting being the in-law to the one who is living with cancer. My father in
law is quite ill right now, really just wasting away. He has some good days
though and these we celebrate to the fullest!! I absolutely adore him and all
of my in laws as well, I am very close to them. But there is a separation and a
place for me, and it's not always in the front. I understand that the family
has days when they are really feeling their feelings with one another, which is
something my father in law has never done. (it is amazing to me the gifts that
happen with this disease) and I love that my husband grows even closer and more
intimate with his dad. His father reveals himself more and more each day. I
see the peace that this gives him. So for me this list has been like being a
little more included in this world. I don't want you to get the wrong idea
about them, I am avery much included, and loved but I guess there is an
invisible wall that naturally occurs.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for sharing yourselves with all of us so
intimately. It is a gift.
I would just like to share what a great day my father in law did have yesterday
though. He is currently back in the hospital for some tests to see if he has
any blockages (he cannot keep anything in), but he was feeling really well, and
he has this big private room with a couch and chairs, and a large kitchen down
the hall for family and visitors. Well, he was actually hungry so we made him
some of his favorites, and then some friends brought in some beer (for us not
him!) and we just ate and played and had fun in his room. He was delighted!! He
called this morning to thanks us for making his hospital stay so fun!
Gee I guess I had a little to say!!
Thanks again from Connecticut!!
