Hello,
My name is Tonia and I just found this wonderful site a few days ago. My 68
year old dad was diagnosed with MDS transforming to AML on April 11, 2000.
He is currently undergoing his 3rd round of chemo. The first did not work,
2nd was a charm. We were supposed to have a stem cell transplant this month
(my brother is a 6/6 perfect match) but were informed last Friday the
hospital did not have a bed for him until September!!! The doctors at the
University of Michigan hospital recommend consolidation chemo to start on
Tuesday to prevent the cancer from returning prior to the transplant. I
contacted MANY hospitals all over the country to see if they could
accommodate my dad for the transplant. None would be able to in a
satisfactory time period. He is currently in the hospital receiving chemo
due to no other alternatives. Is this a common situation? Please contact me
with any input . I feel as if I am constantly fighting the clock and am
always a few minutes behind.
Thank you.
Thank you.
