[MOL] Fatigue in assocation with Chemo

Hi guys:

My mom (Jan) started chemo two weeks ago and is on a 21 day cycle. She is
taking via IV Taxol and Carboplatin once every 21 days, and then is taking
Vepesid (AKA VP-16 and etoposide) orally every day.

I know chemo affects everyone differently. Mom is sleeping probably 22+
hours a day, and has been for the past five days or so (at least as long as
I have been back here in Alabama). She only gets up when I wake her for
meals. We try (at my insistence) to make a lap or two around the house each
time she is up, for I am concerned that she may lose more muscle tone/mass.

What is everyone else's experience with fatigue as a side effect of chemo?
I think her blood counts have been at her nadir, and keep thinking that they
will start building and with it, she will get some strength back. No luck
yet, though. I guess I should feel some degree of peace that she is
comfortable and dreaming rather than being in pain and discomfort.

Thanks for any wisdom you can throw my direction.

Love,

Jeanie

Hello, Beth: I was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in December of
1997. I'm cancer free today -- miraculously. I went through aggressive
chemotherapy and radiation. If there is anything I can do to help -- any
questions I can answer, or if I can help make your mother's chemo a little
easier to endure, please don't hesitate to ask.
