SAN FRANCISCO, CA (Reuters Health) - For the first time, an
antisense-based cancer therapy has been successfully used to
treat a solid tumor in humans. Specifically, Austrian
investigators have used a drug called G3139, in combination with
dacarbazine, to achieve a 43% response rate in patients with
stage IV melanoma who failed all standard treatment--and complete
remission was achieved in one patient.
