Dear Friends:
I just returned home exhausted from my 6th night of sleeping in Tom's
hospital room with a degree of cautious optimism that maybe he can overcome
whatever bug he has and at least come home again. He is still hooked up to
about 4 different antibiotics and decadron, still coughing, and still on
oxygen full time. But, in spite of that, he looks much better. Our onc
thinks he will have to stay in the hospital at least another week and, of
course, anything can happen at any moment, but we are hoping that for now he
will be able to keep going. However, this incident, if it did nothing else,
got me thinking in directions besides just researching endlessly for trials
and treatments. Thanks to all of you for your help and support and I will
keep you posted. Warmly, Bess
