Re: [MOL] radiation - Drs

Dear Lucy,
I've only just started radiation myself this past week. Frankly, I was
terrified also. It has been explained to me that the reason they do
radiation so often and for short periods each day is that the good cells will
recuperate in that 24-hour period while the cancer cells have little to no
chance. It does not hurt. It's like an extended x-ray. You don't feel a
thing. After a while you might notice like a sunburn on the skin. It will
be warm to the touch.
Being so young I would definitely get more opinions. There are other
side effects depending on the area being radiated. Find out what they are
and weigh it against the good it will do. Your radiologist is one of the
best people to talk to. Others on the forum here might be able to help. But
remember, we are not doctors, only people going through this. A lot of
research is shown so keep in touch. Let us know exactly what type of cancer
your little one has and then some of the group can help you far better than I.
Know you are in our prayers. Don't give up. Give that fear to the Lord
and let Him handle it. Rest in His arms.
Love,
Marlene
