Hi Marlene. I've been through the Mojave desert many times, very hot!!!! I was born in Bakersfield and we would always drive to Oklahoma in the summer time. My Dad use to work for Southern Pacific Railroad and was in and out of Mojave alot. It is quite pretty there but extremely dry. Washington must have been quite a change, I hear it rains alot there? It is storming here in Tulsa today, I just love it. The azaleas are blooming like gangbusters. Wish I could go home and put my robe on and sit in the house and watch outside, but enough of my dreaming....I better get back to work!

Sagebrush and dessert is where I'm from originally. I lived in the
Mojave Dessert of Southern California from the time I was 12 until about 5
years ago. That's a very long time. And you're right, it has it's own
beauty. I would still be there, but the town was dying and taking my family
with it. Had to get out. Washington was home the minute I saw it.
Oregon is fabulous. The coast is the most breathtaking I've seen.
That's not saying too much as I've only been on the west coast. But
Washington is home. I couldn't live without my Mt. Rainier.
