The above listed site will take you to quite a few sites that have information regarding Schwannoma tumors.  A Schwannoma tumor is apical soft tissue density mass of the peripheral nervous system. Relatively a common benign tumor .  In recent studies they have found that some individuals are affected genetically.  You will find at the above reference site information on the research work being done, a support group and where the research facilities are located.

There is no doubt in my mind that it has to be devastating to loose a child, my heart goes out to all of you.  We are not in the medical profession; so I am expressing my own opinions.  I would suggest that your daughter go for grieving counseling to help her work through all of this.  I am sure she has many questions that we are not able to answer and I am sure she has some that no one will be able to answer.  If the majority of her questions can be answered she will feel much better.  I am a strong believer that something's are just too big for anyone to handle and that a wise person will seek out the help they need.  Our minds are of equal importance to our bodies.

May God be with all of you and help you to heal a painful wound.  Warmly, lillian
