Hi there Andy,
Welcome to our group of very special people. I started my journey back in
February of 1997 when I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the
nose and mouth. My surgery was at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in
NY on March 7, 1997 followed by 37 treatments of radiation. I will not go
into all the horrific details right now only to say that date is forever
etched in my soul as the day I was transformed...not just physically but
spiritually as well. I think that you really miss the mark if you don't
look for the message that God has for you in every adverse event that
happens in one's life. For me it has been bringing me back to God and
realizing that for many years He has never left me but I had turned away
from Him.
I am now making the time to get to know Him and His will for me. It is a
task that I shall one day complete when He has finally decided that it is my
time to be with Him. In the meantime, I am trying my hardest to do the
right thing in being a worker, a Father to four beautiful daughters, a
Husband to a woman who has been through hell and back during my six months
of treatment, a good neighbor, and a good friend to all who I touch and who
touch me. My life today is a balance between producing and touching and
being touched...and mol is a significant part of that life.
So hang in there my friend, know that there are those who have "been there,
done that" and who reach out with loving hands to help pull you up when you
are down, hold you when you're about to fall, cheer you when you are sad,
and always pray for you and that God provide the courage to face what must
be done and another Blessed gift of another day to touch and be touched.
God Bless you.
John
