Lillian, I use to have a cherry head parrot that would say hello, whistle, laugh, bark, & do the telephone ring. He was so fun to have around, whenever I would walk into the room he would give me a catcall whistle that always endeared him to me (lol) and when he would sit on my shoulder he would lean over and try and groom me with his weird little tounge. He didn't have any saliva though, I guess I should be grateful for that. I miss 'Okie' and one day I think I'm going to get another parrot. I've heard that African Grey's are the best talkers, they also cost close to $1000 for one bird! I'll settle for my 13 year old cat and our 3 goldfish for now. What with Chance around, I don't need any more messes to clean, I swear little boys are like tornadoes. He is starting to collect and keep rocks in his pockets that are getting all in the washing machine, I guess I'll have to start checking his pockets too. You would not believe some of the things that have come back in sacks from the cleaners, my husband leaves fishing lures, money, pocket knives, chips, etc... Enough of my complaining, I just wanted to say birds are neat & I'm glad that you had a funny moment with that one. :)
Regards,
Dusti

Dear Friends: Yesterday we read an e-mail from Joicy regarding her dog that backed up to the couch and sat down with all four paws on the floor. I enjoyed this little story and immediately conjured a picture of this dog sitting on the couch.
So I have a cute one to share. We are baby or should I say bird sitting this min. parrot, who's name is Pogo. I was told Pogo bites hard when the lady brought him over to the house.
Last night I had decided that Pogo needed a run and he bit me as I was opening the cage door. I walked back into the kitchen to finish making dinner and all of a sudden Pogo lands on my shoulder.
First Pogo wants to kiss me, was I leery, you bet; but it ended up that Pogo kisses ever so gently.
Then Pogo whispers, yes you read right, whispers "hey lady" and spits on my cheek. Now mind you, I thought the bird had sneezed; but after the third round of a whispered "hey lady" and water on my cheek I am quite convinced this bird was spitting on my cheek.
It's the little things in life that bring great joy!
Warmly, lillian
