Good Day All,
Hope the following information is useful.
Immediate Hormonal Therapy Superior To Observation After Surgery
For Node-Positive Prostate Cancer
WESTPORT, Dec 09 (Reuters Health) - For men with node-positive
prostate cancer who undergo radical prostatectomy and pelvic
lymphadenectomy, immediate antiandrogen therapy is associated
with better survival and a reduced risk of recurrence compared
with no treatment or delayed treatment, according to a report in
the December 9th issue of The New England Journal of Medicine.
The study was conducted by Dr. Edward M. Messing, from the
University of Rochester in New York, and multicenter colleagues.
They randomly assigned 47 men to receive goserelin or bilateral
orchiectomy immediately after surgery, while 51 men were observed
for signs of progression.
