Although I did not have cancer of the tong, I did have
squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the nose and upper pallet. There is a web
site for head and neck cancer survivors and many members with SCC of the
tong. I am sure that several people there will be able to assist
you. Their web site is:
I
would also suggest that you call the National Cancer Institute at 1-800-4CANCER
to obtain information on the latest clinical trials and information on cancer in
general. Your local chapter of the American Cancer Society is also a good
source of information. Please stay with us for a while because, as you may
have already found, there are many loving and supportive people on this
site. Just know that you are not alone and as long as there is life, there
is hope. I will keep you both in my prayers. Please keep us advised
of how your friend is doing. God Bless.

Cancer Info Needed
A friend was recently diagnosed with squamous
cell cancer of the tongue. He(age 52) is scheduled for surgery on this
Thursday to have the tumor removed (about 1/3 of tongue) and a neck dissection
(removal of lymph nodes). I have been searching the web for information on
this type of cancer and have found some general information, but was looking
for information from people who have had this same type of cancer who could
share information on the surgery and treatments.
I have also not had much luck looking for
cancer forums that would be helpful, any suggestions? Visiting many of
the sites, I can see how important it is for survivors to share
their stories, I am trying to obtain some "good news" to share prior to his
surgery. Thanks for any information you can
share.
