Celebrex Approved For Familial Adenomatous Polyposis
WESTPORT, Dec 28 (Reuters Health) - The US Food and Drug
Administration has expanded approval of the selective COX-2
inhibitor Celebrex (celecoxib) to include reduction of the number
of colorectal polyps in persons with familial adenomatous
polyposis. Celebrex was first approved for management of
rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis in 1998. Now, a little
more than a week after the Oncology Drugs Advisory Committee
recommended it, the FDA has approved Celebrex for this new
indication.
