Hi Jeanne - Sorry I took so long in replying. I don't go on-line every
day. I'm pretty new to all of this and would appreciate it if some
things that I'm reading on this site could be explained to me by you or
anyone who knows. One thing is, as in your case, you say you have
adenocarcinoma, unknown primary. What exactly does this mean. Also when
people talk of tumor markers I don't completely understand. I know prior
to my surgery for the small intestinal adenocarcinoma they did take blood
for a marker but said I had no marker. I never really investigated
further and I certainly will talk to my onc the next time I see him. Are
there different types of marker tests for different types of cancer. As
I've written before my type they tell me is very rare and they don't have
much data on it. I'm nervous about follow up testing once my chemo is
completed as my tumor didn't show up on small bowel studies and on one CT
scan and I believe CT scan is what they are planning to use as follow up.
Any info or thoughts you may have would be gratefully appreciated.
Margie
