FDA Approves CyberKnife Radiation Device For Brain Tumors

LOS ANGELES, Jul 29 (Reuters) - The US Food and Drug

Administration has approved a device that enables physicians to

target tumors with a precise dose of radiation, the developer of

the device said on Tuesday. The CyberKnife, made by privately-

held Accuray Oncology of Sunnyvale, California, was cleared by

the FDA for treatment of brain tumors and other conditions

affecting the brain, head, neck and upper spine. Accuray said

that the device has the potential to be used on cancers in other

parts of the body.
