PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: (TOP)

The Mid-Atlantic Lymphedema Center (SM) is the
first internationally recognized interdisciplinary treatment center for
individuals with primary and secondary lymphedema, with locations throughout the
Eastern United States, patients across the country are served.
Lymphedema, a form of high protein edema, is the chronic swelling of a body part caused by a malformation or malfunction of the lymphatic system. It most often affects an arm or leg, but can also occur in the face, neck, abdomen and other parts of the body. The condition may result in:

Using a comprehensive interdisciplinary treatment approach, The
Mid-Atlantic Lymphedema Center offers a team of highly trained professionals who
provide total care to the lymphedema patient. Treatments are rendered daily from
one to four weeks at a time. Follow-up progress evaluations are conducted at six
month intervals. The treatment team includes licensed professionals in: Physical
Therapy (Vodder certified and trained), Physiatry, Clinical Psychology,
Nutrition, and Occupational Therapy. The Center provides a safe and effective
10-part Lymphedema Treatment Program which includes:
