I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer this past March. I underwent 2 different
kinds of colonscopy's (a partial and a full). Both were with local
anaesthesia, which acts like a relaxant. I was actually awake thru both
procedures and was able to view the camera inside me. This procedure has
little risk. It's much more uncomfortable than anything.
Other signs of colon cancer are fatigue, blood in bowel movements, pains in
abdomen as well as being anemic. These are the symptoms I encountered.
Good Luck!

There is a risk to any procedure but it is not done under anaesthetic
but only a relaxant. No big deal for me and I had a few! Ask your
father's doctor why he is doing the procedure - it might reassure you.
It might be your father's age is the contributing factor and his
obesity. Hope this helps. My best wishes for a good result. Jeanne
