[MOL] RE:

Dear Shawn:  The procedure is not risky -- just slightly humiliating!  Other symptoms might be weight loss blood in the stool -- that sort of thing.  I've had a couple of these little examinations, and they really aren't bad at all.  Anemia can be a symptom of any number of things -- some not at all serious.  Take heart.  Kathy in Boise

Hello,

My father is in relatively good shape, he is 69 years old, has high blood pressure
and is overweight, but has enjoyed good health thus far. He has had blood drawn
for his usual checkups and was told he was anemic (sp?). He then was sent to a specialist
who will be performing a colonospy (sp?) where they knock you out and put a laser thing
up your bottom to see if they see anything.

My question is this:  Should I be concerned about this? What other signs of colon cancer
are there besides anemia? Is the procedure itself risky?

Thanks,
Shawn
