[MOL] New Clinical Trials for Leukemia, lymphoma, etc

Good Morning My Friends,

Found the following information about clinical trials to be very
uplifting.

Bioenvision, Inc. Reports Phase I Trial for Clofarabine Completed

     LONDON & NEW YORK--(BW HealthWire)--June 23, 1999--Bioenvision,
Inc.
(OTCBB:BIOV) a London-based biopharmaceutical company, today announced
that
the preliminary results of the Phase I clinical trial of clofarabine
were
reported at the fourth meeting of the European Hematology Association
meeting
in Barcelona. The trial, conducted at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in
Houston was successfully completed recently, with results showing the
drug is
a potent immunosuppressive agent with no unexpected side-effects.

Phase II protocols to use clofarabine in leukemia, lymphoma and
several
solid tumors are now being submitted. Researchers at the MD Anderson
Cancer
Center have also shown that clofarabine, like some other drugs in the
class,
will prevent DNA repair and therefore could be used in combination with
DNA-damaging chemotherapeutic drugs. This could greatly extend the role
of
clofarabine beyond the treatment of hematological cancers and into the
realm
of solid tumors. The EHA is one of the largest meetings of hematologists
in
Europe and over 4,000 delegates attended the conference.
