     AURORA, Ontario--(BW HealthWire)--June 21, 1999--Helix BioPharma
(TSE:HBP.) announced Interferon-a has been successfully delivered both
dermally and transdermally, without the need for an injection, utilizing
Biphasix(tm) delivery system in a study of seventeen healthy human

     In a presentation to the Controlled Release Society in Boston,
Marianna Foldvari, of the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the
of Saskatchewan, presented the results of a study of the delivery of
therapeutic proteins through human skin. The study showed a significant
increase in anti-viral activity in the skin and in the blood following
application of an interferon-a-Biphasix(tm) patch when compared to a
