Re: [MOL] Lung Cancer

Dear Murray - I am very sorry to hear about all the difficulties your mother has
been experiencing. Sadly, serious problems related to poor care, mis-diagnosis,
failure to diagnose, drug reactions etc are far more common than we realize...A
Dr. Contreras who runs the Oasis of Hope wrote a book called "Medicine in the
21st Century - will doctors survive?" and refers to the hundreds of thousands of
patients who have died due to medical errors - called "iatrogynia"..I myself
have a form of lung cancer and after much research decided removing parts of the
lung was just too risky post-surgically....complications are unfortunately very
common I am sad to say. I think as others have suggested that it's important
that you and your siblings become advocates for your mother and obtain copies of
all her records to get to the bottom of what's transpired. I would take the
records to other doctors and seek second opinions. I realize that you say this
is difficult because you are out of state, but maybe you can consult with
physicians in your state once you obtain her records. Good luck - my prayers
are with you and your family at this very difficult and agonizing time. Cori.
