Flavonoid Intake May Reduce CHD Mortality Risk For Postmenopausal
Women
WESTPORT, May 17 (Reuters Health) - New data suggest a
"relatively strong" protective effect of dietary flavonoids on
the risk of death from coronary heart disease (CHD) in
postmenopausal women. Dr. Laura Yochum of the University of
Minnesota, Minneapolis, with colleagues there and at Harvard in
Boston, Massachusetts, studied the association between dietary
flavonoid intake, CHD and stroke mortality in 34,492
postmenopausal women enrolled in the prospective Iowa Women's
Health Study.
