Dear FRiend,
My wife has the same diagnosis as your Mother and 5 years ago when she
had 9 treatments of Taxol/Carboplatin that did not work as well. What
did work for Ovarian was combination of Cisplatin/Cytoxin and then
Topotecan. Now since those years have passed there are more protocals of
treatment for Ovarian, for instance four treatments were passed by the
FDA last year. For advanced Ovarian the new protocal of treatment is
Gemzar or Gemcitibine and Cisplatin combined, and then there is
Hexalene, Doxil, navelbine, etc. I would urge you to call the NCI at
1-800-4cancer for the definitions of these protocal as well as ask them
for the names of comprhensive hospitals in your area to seek 2nd
opinions. By the way my wife had 41 treatments of various combinations
of chemotherapy, then was cancer free for two years and now has a
recurrence and is in the 2nd cycle of Topotecan. Hope all this
information helps. If you need more info pls ask what you will to my
personal e-mail address and I will try and provide you with as much
information that I have knowledge of.
God Bless You
marty and Barb auslander
