Lil,
Hi, sorry
I've been so lazy. Patrick came home March 31th and was
not well. After a couple weeks of trying to eat
unsuccessfully, I insisted he
see a surgeon. He
did, and was admitted immediately and surgery was done on
April 17th, a gastrojejunostomy. Finally
got him home after a week and
thought we were on
the road to recovery. On May 2nd, when I irrigated his
biliary drain, all I got out was pus and dark
green "stuff". His temp was
104.5 so I took him to the emergency room and he was
admitted. Tried
bringing him home on May
8th with a visiting nurse to continue the IV
antibiotic therapy. This lasted 24 hours because his temp
went back up. So
May 9th he was re-admitted and
has been there since. I sent his CT films to
Staten Island and he has been accepted for body radiosurgery for
the lesions
on his liver, they will also take a
look at the tumor in the pancreas. His
appointment is June 1st, so I told him to get rid of the liver
infection so
we can keep this appt. The
dr. at Staten Island will most likely start
treatment on June 13th. The hospital staff got him an
apartment 1 block away
and the boys will be out
of school by then so we can spend some time with
him. I still have the business to run, so I foresee many
miles ahead of us
(it's a 10-12 hour drive).
I'll know more after the June 1st consultation and
June 2 CTScan.
Although Patrick remains
upbeat, he has been taking Zoloft for depression. I
asked him to share it with me, LOL.
Between the business, the boys and
Patrick, I
haven't had much time to post to the MOLers. I still read some of
the mail and hope to be more active after the NY
trip. The boys are worried
and don't want
their Dad to leave again, but they are realistic and agree
that he must.
