Dear Sir,
Basal Cell Carcinoma is serious, although not usually life threatening,
it can
cause severe disfigurement, and tissue damage. It is not like a
melanoma, which
looks like a dark spot on the skin, and can start in a mole. Basal Cell
Cancer
looks just like a patchy, scaly, or even white nodule-like piece of
skin. The surgery
is very simple, and here in Australia is often carried out in the
doctors' surgery
or hospital out-patient clinic under a local anaesthetic. Freezing
suspicious areas
also works well.
Please ask your doctor to explain in detail what he/she wants to do, and
why. If you are
not happy, get a second, or third opinion. But please, don't ignore what
could
become a serious health problem if you don't do something about it.
Let us know how you go.
Love Mam
