Thalomid Designated Orphan Drug For Crohn's Disease
WASHINGTON, Apr 16 (Reuters) - Celgene Corp. said on Thursday it
had received orphan drug designation to develop its thalidomide
drug for use against Crohn's disease. The drug, which is being
used experimentally against a range of diseases from leprosy to
cancer, is already being tested against Crohn's disease. Getting
orphan drug designation from the US Food and Drug Administration
gives the company exclusive marketing rights in the United States
for 7 years if it is approved for this use.
