Low-dose Ketamine Effective In Patients With Refractory Terminal
Cancer Pain

WESTPORT, Apr 14 (Reuters Health) - Case reports published by a
Utah physician provide further evidence that low-dose intravenous
ketamine is an option for patients with end-stage disease with
opioid-resistant severe pain or dose-limiting side effects due to
other analgesics. In the April issue of the Journal of Pain and
Symptom Management, Dr. Perry G. Fine, of the University of Utah
Health Sciences Center in Salt Lake City, describes two patients
with advanced cancer who had "excruciating and intractable pain"
that was not controlled with morphine.
