Dear MOLERS,
My friend went to see her oncologist today for the first time today.
>From our discussion, its my impression that he did not give her all
the facts about her disease and what will be required of her to fight
it. Again, this is a first for me and my friend, so maybe he was just
being sensitive and will let her know more in the future. My friend
is a woman in her very early 30s. The doctor said that Chemo would be
a good idea and asked if she wanted to use a decatheter. Does anyone
use one of these to take their Chemo? And if so, what are the pros and
cons? He also began to solicit her participation in a research drug.
He didin't use the words clinical trial so I'm not sure what it is
exactly. Also, he didn't tell her what stage her cancer was in. From
all of the literature I've read, it's stage 3. Again, is this normal.
I feel as if there's a train coming down the track going 90 miles and
hour and he's not letting her know that its coming. I would
appreciate your help in trying again to get a little perspective.
Thanx.
Troy
