My name is Linda George and I'm a new member of your cancer forum. Joicy
Becker-Richards, my pastor and a cancer survivor, has told me about your
group, and what a caring group you are. I also "know" Lillian from another
e-mail group called "Faithtalk" that Joicy has set up. I've heard a lot
about Lillian, and I can see what a big part she plays your forum. Hi,
Lillian.
Anyway, the reason I'm here is because my dad has been diagnosed with acute
myelogenous leukemia several weeks ago. He is going to be admitted to the
Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida this coming Wednesday. I am a very
concerned and worried daughter who loves her dad more than anything. And I
am so scared.
I've done some research on this type of leukemia and I've learned a lot.
I've also picked up some info on your forum re. chemotherapy and its
effects and some herbal treatments, etc. that can help the immune system,
etc. I will vigorously read whatever is suggested to help my dad and our
family through this journey.
The doctor said he had a 50-70% chance of remission at his age. He's 75.
I'm just so worried about him getting through aggressive chemo - they said
some patients don't make it through. I'm to the point where he's all I
think about 24 hours a day. It's hard for me to concentrate on my job.
I know I'm rambling, but I need to share with people who can relate. Any
input would be appreciated. And, of course, your prayers. That's something
I do almost every waking moment.
