My brother has been diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. He had his
Right Kidney removed. Then the cancer soread to the ribs and they
removed the rib with surgery. After that the cancer spread to the lung.
At this time he was given Interlukin 2. For five years the cancer was in
remission and he was feeling great. Then he was in pain and the scan
revealed that he needed an operation to remove an infected rib. They
removed two ribs and he was OK for a while. After a year he had to have
another operation to remove parts of the lung. Then he was given
Interferon as a treatment. He has been taking this medication for a year
but has had two additional surgeries to remove tumors from soft tissue
around his right side.
Now they found that he has another growth on his rib and it is broken.
Can they operate on him again? Can he take Interlukin 2 once more since
he benefited from the initial IL-2 treatment? Is there anyother
medication for Renal Cell Carcinoma once it is in stage 4 with spreading
thru the lungs and the ribs?
