Dear Sandi,
There's a Winston Cockatoo at my local bird shop. We always visit when we
go in for food. He's not like some cockatoos that you can just pet and
squeeze--a bit more fiesty, cranky and spoiled. One day I had my hand in
the cage; he was sitting on it. He started hopping up and down on my hand.
The owner's wife was watching--she says to an employee, see, he's trying to
mate with her. I had a talk with Winston about how that wasn't possible;
and he should remember my husband Tony, because I had brought him in to meet
Winston. He doesn't do that anymore. But what a racket he puts up if you
turn away from him to play with another bird! Sheesh!
Love,
Martha
