You are right....to a point. They still prefer to use family members for
donating bone marrow, and even then, often need anti-rejection drugs. But
there are new drugs which help prevent rejection of non-compatible marrow.
These drugs, however, tend to be steroid based, are taken in fairly large
quantities, and have their own side effects (as you know, dear friend). They
must be taken long- term, usually a lifetime.
