Are you for real? Do you think I remember where my mind was last week let alone
this week LOL Read Jane Aul's series and would she please hurry up and write
the last book. This waiting game, I take kindly too. Guardian Ad litems can
make such a big difference in a child's life; but sometimes I have seen cases
where it truly isn't for the best interest of the child. This is a small town
and anyone can make a report to our DSS even if it is not a true report. Then
the guardian ad litems come in and they have all the power and some of them
can't handle power. I saw one time where they made a mother jump through so
many hoops that she almost had a nervous breakdown. They would go to court and
the guardian ad litem had a new hoop for the judge to make her jump through..
Finally I asked a lawyer friend to step in and sure enough with-in six months
everything was back to normal, children with mother where they belonged in the
first place. What happened was the young mother got into an argument with this
girl for doing drugs in her place, the girl told the foster mother about the
argument and said it was the young mother doing the drugs, thus Dss and Guardiam
ad litems stepped in. It ended up that the girl who was doing the drugs foster
mother offered to take the young mother's children into her home for foster
care. The story ended fine; but had it all been handled professionally, I don't
believe that young mother and her children would have had to go through the hell
she did, nor her children displaced. When I was young, I used to take the
children to court as their represenative; but I did not wheel any power, just
made suggestions and the Judge did what he thought was best. Ofcourse, most of
the children were shipped off to an orphange. I just don't know. The sadnest
for the children of the world is overwhelming. You two have a great day, I know
I will. Love, Lillian
