My dad went to MD Anderson, part of the University of TExas Medical Center in
Houston. We found everyone there to be most helpful. There is a hotel just
for cancer patients -- the Jesse Jones Rotary House (800)847-5783. If it is
full, the Marriot takes the overflow at the same rate as the Rotary house and
a shuttle is provided at no charge. At the Rotary house you just walk across
the street to the hospital.
At one time your onc had to refer you, but now I believe, the patient can call
and make his own appointment. We had to send copies of pathology slides, CTs,
X-rays and blood work, proof of insurance, and a $100 deposit because we were
out of state (I think).
Best wishes to you,
allison
