Re: [MOL] LIZ P. & CHRISTINE/BREAST CANCER

Dear Lillian,
Thanks for the advice about exercising the arm. I hate to complain and I
don't want to bother busy people but how am I supposed to know if the level
of pain I am feeling and the amount of swelling I have is normal at this
stage or if I should be having it checked? I guess, the truth is we should
exercise our whole body every day for the rest of our lives. That makes for
a better functioning body.

As to being an English major, I was actually a speech drama major who ended
up teaching English so I took all those required courses, too. I never
offer advice on other people's writing unless asked to do so. (Of course I
assume that students in my classes are asking for advice or they would not
be taking the course.) If anyone wants some editing on something they are
putting together for an important purpose, my email address is right there.
email it to me privately and I'll gladly give input, but I would never
comment on any writing in a public forum like this. I am more interested in
the information you give than in the technical expertise with which you
present it.

In my youth I taught dance for the Arthur Murray. When guys know that they
become very self conscious about their dancing so having that background
can be a social negative. When people know you are an English teacher, they
become nervous about their use of language; this is also a social negative.
I don't expect perfection of others and I hope they don't expect perfection
of me. In this forum, I am very short on knowledge in an area that has
suddenly become very important to me. My greatest frustration with it is
that I feel foolish because I don't know answers that others feel are
common sense.

Thanks for the concern about my shoulder. I know I must do as you say.

Liz P
