Re: [MOL] mol-cancer forum...

Carla, beautifully said and with all your heart. You have been such a
treasure to this forum. God Bless and my prayers are with you every day.

would send you a part of my heart and I was afraid that you would just
throw this email away... The cancering journey that we have all entered
into was not done by choice. We are people just like you and your staff
who were busy living our lives each day and planning for the future and
then one day, we were hit with the news that we might have cancer.. What
fear lurks in all of our hearts over the word Cancer... Let alone if it is
happening to us, or someone that we love.

>We have all had our own experiences and we represent many different types
of cancer. You know, at one point before I was diagnosed I thought that
cancer was like a virus.. One germ fit all and it was just a matter of
where it hit. Now I am more educated and realize that it is much, much
more than that.. In fact, so much more; that though they lump us together
in groups of 100 for statistics on how long we will live... we really are
never exactly the same and therefore shouldn't be lumped together..

DeWINE about budget and help for this disease that is killing so many in
our nation. The response from Congressman Portman atleast treated me as a
human being with real feelings. The letter from Senator DeWine was pleased
to tell me that "Cancer is a devastating illness affecting millions of
Americans." Obviously I needed this news. I went in for a biopsy last
November 3rd and woke up without my right lung. I was 44 years old. I
feel so much better knowing that it affects millions of Americans... don't
you??

>He also stated that "I have called for the doubling of the budget for the
National Institutes of Health (NIH) over the next five years." Well
Montel, I just wrote consoling emails to the loving people on this forum
who have lost three people to disease cancer. I don't think that doubling
the budget over the next five years will console their families today. It
doesn't console me over my cancering journey..

>Mr. DeWINE also said "I appreciate your taking the time to share your
position with me." What choice do I have? My position is one of choosing
life. My position is one of trying to help others choose life, while we
all wait for cures. My position is the heartbreak of saying goodbye to
someone you have come to care about, who can't wait five years...

>I know that some of the others have told you about our forum and I won't
be redundant. I know that by now you are aware of The March on Cancer
taking place in September of 1998. I hope that you can put your creative
staff to work and come up with a program that will show your support of
this disease that affects millions of Americans, and at the same time
reach out to those who everyday wake up and have to come face to face with
their own mortality...

>Cancer changes a person, a heart, a mind, a life, a family, a spouse, a
lover, a friend, a business associate and anyother people who are lucky
enough to truly get to know people on the cancering journey... Those who
for today... are cancering survivors and those who are praying that they
will wake tomorrow... to be one again.

>It is said that when you give, you receive much more in return. While you
are thinking about this, I will return to be a cancering survivor on the
mol-cancer forum. I know that we are close to losing some others and my
heart is breaking.. By the way, did I mention that two of the three that
died had the same type of cancer that I have? Adenocarcinoma. Do you know
it has become the leading killer of non-smoking women, surpassing breast
cancer? Saying goodbye to other people with Adenocarcinoma that were
cancering survivors until this weekend is enough to scare someone like me.
>
>Yet I will go on giving others faith and writing to people for help. I am
hoping to go to New York for the mol-cancer event September 19th and then
go on to Washington D.C. for the big event on the 25,26th. I owned an
antique mall and was a council woman for my town. I moved and had to leave
my council position and have had my store closed since last August. I
still pay the overhead, for I want to believe that I am going to be strong
enough to be in business full time again.. The truth is probably not the
same, but I won't give it up today...

>Thank you for all of your thoughtfulness and any true energy you put into
creating a show that would fulfill some dreams... By the way, one of the
people who wants to come the most is not doing well, but we can all believe
in miracles can't we....??!!
