Liz,
Glad you are doing so well. I'm sure a positive attitude has a lot to do
with it. I had my drainage tube in for two weeks. They normally take it out
when drainage is less than ? mills in 8 hours. I can't remember the amount.
My tube never did slow down so they just took it out anyway. I had to go to
the doctor twice after that to have the underarm drained as it started
swelling but it was no big deal as the underarm is numb anyway. After a
couple of weeks your incision should be healing nicely. I still have a
slight hollow in my underarm (which makes shaving difficult). I found my
shoulder muscle was sore because of the way I was holding my arm against my
side and not using it. After I started stretching it out, (it hurt like
hell) but then started feeling better. Has your doctor recommended any
exercises or a physiotherapist? I am told many woman never regain full use
of their arm and I would hate you to be one of them. I play baseball, swim,
etc. and believe I have regained about 98% usage. I don't think it will
ever quite feel the way it used to but that's O.K. You sound like you are
doing extremely well, better than I was at that stage. Keep positive and
keep in touch.
