Cindy (wow, I feel like I'm writing to myself,
I talk to myself all the time, I may be the one who needs the dr. and not an
onc.!!!),
Anyway, in our experience a lot of dr.s won't
release their records directly to you (don't know why since you paid for all of
it) but will send them to another dr. if you fill out some type of form saying
it's ok. Occassionally, you might run into a dr. with some smarts who
bypasses all of this red tape, but in our area it doesn't seem to happen
much. If that doesn't work, go ahead to get your 2nd opinion and let dr.
#2 call dr. #1 and get it worked out.
Is it common practice or out-of-line for a
patient to request their own medical records? I know it is strongly
recommended to get second opinions and have read to take all your records
with you, but how do you go about obtaining them? Is it possible
to get copies of test results? Thanks for any input on this
