RE: [MOL] Charlotte

Hi Liz,

My radiation was to the brain, so I don't know but I'd guess we're
comparing some apples to oranges, but my experience was not
all that bad.

I just finished 7 weeks of radiation, 5 days a week. They gave me
four zaps per day to the same location, but from different angles
(0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees.)

The total radiation they gave me was 6000 Greys. Through the
first six weeks, I noticed no side effects, other than loss of hair.
I felt good. During the seventh seek, I began to feel tired. Now,
going on two weeks following radiation I still feel tired. My head
is a bit itchy, but I'll bet if I used some cream it would take care
of that problem--I just don't like the oily feeling.

The radiation itself was totally painless. I compare it with having
an X-Ray. I never felt a thing. I kidded my wife that the only
things I didn't like about it was the smell of burning hair and the
sound of sizzling bacon, but she's getting used to me now after
ten years of marriage.

I personally am glad I went with radiation. I went with surgery,
chemotherapy and radiation--get rid of the junk, I say.

Like I said, this might be apples and oranges, but oh well, I've
already written this thing so I'll send it to you.

Love,
Ross

P.S.
If you can send me an electronic picture of you, I'd sure like to
put it in my new MOL photo album that I'm putting together! If
you do that, include a bio OK? Just so you know, I'm putting
the Album in a public place where everyone can see it!

Hi Charlotte, et al
Tell me about radiation. Did you find it tiring? How is your skin
since the radiation? I just returned from my family doctor and I told him I
am not comfortable with the decision to have a mastectomy without further
investigating the lumpectomy option. How long is it since you had your
surgery?
I feel very unsure at this point. I know I have to have this taken
care of but I want to take the right path. I have called a local support
group and they are going to get right back to me. Tell me what you feel
will help me make this dicision. Please.
Liz
