Dear Vicci,
I don't know what I'm talking about, but Rich has had big changes in the
way things move round in his body, and it seems only natural that it would
take some getting used to. I never realized before I had surgery how
anytime a person has it, it's a major trauma to the body. I've heard also
with surgery for colon cancer that the stomache is very delicate
afterwards. But again, I don't really know. Hold on, and tell him to hold
on. Our bodies, despite their limitations, do have wonderful capabilities
for adaptation. You sound like you've got a good doctor. Ask him
everything; don't be afraid. Nothing is as bad as not knowing or not
understanding. And if you don't understand, tell them so, and ask for more
explanation.
I am sending you a lot of positive, happy thoughts, cyberhugs to you and
Rich, and pats on the head. Just got back from a lovely July 4 fireworks
display. I kept thinking how much I thank God I was there to see it with
my husband and 9 year old son, and plan to see many more.
Your friend in New York,
Martha Cerreto
