Garlic has been touted as a miracle cure for high cholesterol --
that is, until now. Doctors from the University of Bonn, Germany, did
extensive testing on 25 patients with high blood cholesterol levels
who
were not taking any cholesterol-lowering medications. They found no
noticeable improvement in patients who took large, concentrated doses
of garlic oil, compared with the patients who took a placebo. The
doctors concluded that garlic has no therapeutic effect on cholesterol
levels. -- Source: The Journal of the American Medical Association,
