Dear Betsy,
I believe that it is equally difficult for the care givers as it is for the
patients themselves. I don't write too aften either because I am not as
elequent as the rest seem to be. I have had leiomyosarcoma for the last eight
years and have been constantly fighting for the last five. I don't believe
that I am in denial but I just don't have the time for cancer. Until just
recently I could force my body to camp and do all manner of rapelling etc. I
am now in a wheel chair--due to bone involvement. The cancer is just about
everywhere. I try to marvel at the wonderful things that my body can still
do. Today I was able to see my 14 yr. old graduate from middle school. Next
I hope to see Nathan (my 12 yr. old ) receive his black belt in Choi Kwan Do.
I didn't mean to ramble on. What I am trying to say is that I have trusted
God with my life so I am free to live love laugh and serve Him. I also use a
lot of humor--actually it just finds me. I have to run the kids just got
home--last day od school. I'll write later and tell you how I got a huge hole
in my new dress. It is one of those--you know how men are.Love and prayer to you all--Bernie (Bernadine--the female version)
