Dear Christine and JOicy,
I know there has been much controversy and question about Tamoxifen.
Just to add some more confusion to the pros and cons, I heard at the
conference and we were told by Dr. John Micha, my Barbs gynecological
oncologist that he has patients who have been taking Tamoxifen for up to
ten years with no recurrance. Now Barb has been on Tamoxifen for close
to one year, with no side effects and is doing well. I asked him and
them about the 5 year expectancy of Tamoxifen and their reply was "if it
works up to 5 years, then there is no reason to discontinue".
Although, they were all very positive that there would be many other
alternative drugs, such as Tamoxifen, to be coming along in the next
five years that would most probably be more beneficial with less side
effects.
HOpe this helps somewhat.
God Bless
